Description

"Don't be a celebrity, because then you go cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. You don't want that, do you?" --Jack Black

Raw Cacao Nibs are the purest form of dark chocolate you can find. Rather bitter, they nonetheless make a good topping for other food, especially ice cream! ;] I've gotten used to the taste -- it's healthy after all... ----- Cacao Nibs Cacao is the seed of a fruit of an Amazonian tree that was brought to Central America during or before the time of the Olmecs. Cacao beans were so revered by the Mayans and Aztecs that they used them as money! In 1753 Carl von Linnaeus, the 18th-century Swedish scientist, thought that cacao was so important that he named the genus and species of this tree himself. He named this tree: Theobroma cacao, which literally means "cacao, the food of the gods." Cacao beans contain no sugar and between 12% and 50% fat depending on variety and growth conditions. Nature's First Law cacao beans are around 40% fat content (low compared to other nuts). There is no evidence to implicate cacao bean consumption with obesity. Magnesium Cacao is remarkably rich in magnesium. Cacao seems to be the #1 source of magnesium of any food. This is likely the primary reason women crave chocolate during the menstrual period. Magnesium balances brain chemistry, builds strong bones, and is associated with more happiness. Magnesium is the most deficient major mineral on the Standard American Diet (SAD); over 80% of Americans are chronically deficient in Magnesium! ----- Thanks for stopping by and for your pinkish comments on my last photo, Cymbidium Orchid.

At first glance I thought it was something to put in your flower garden to prevent weeds from growing ;-) (they use coco shells for that I think). Is this the pure natural state or already 'manufactured'?

Now I know why I so instinctively like chocolates!! They are GOOD for me. Thanks for the info. Now I have something to counter my wife's argument about hot chocolate topping on my ice cream. Lovely picture and wise info. :)))

Carl von Linnaeus??? I had no idea! COOOL! And i also had no idea you spelled it that way....here in Sweden hes known as Carl von Linne. Im not that fond of dark chocolate....but just a tiny bit along with some good strong coffee sure cause an orgasm in ones mouth...if i may be so nasty to quote Stewie from "Family Guy". Excellent macro as usual Kort!!! Enjoy your sunday!!!! MAS4EVA!!! #:o)

Beautiful and tasteful texture, thanks for sharring this part of the chocolate story, the feeling "very well" after eating chocolate is the other "chemical side" of the wonderful bean!! Personally I like it veryyy much, childeren and not only children like to eat chocolade on a sandwish as "mouse droppings shape" little pieces or as flakes or as chocolade butter... overhere in Holland!! Have a nice weekend Henk
