Description

Another early attempt at fractals. I thought this had a semi-sand dollar appearance. For this image I used the solid rendering, with the icon attractor, and from what I recall, at least 2 trillion iterations. I would say that I am like the Tim Allen of fractals at this point, although as TOMIX CH stated in my first fractal post - they are relatively addictive. You know - with fractals you can put on some classical music, pour some wine, tweak the equations and quietly render something that doesn't feature giant breasts and a sword that would make Conan collapse... I may continue to render these as a side to my other atrocities. For your consideration, I thank you.

I neglected to add, you might notice the discrepencies at the center of the image. It's kind of funny, because that area was larger and had a rougher appearance/texture at the beginning of the render - then towards the end, nearly all of the rough area vanished - leaving just a few pits in the surface - maybe this is something I will learn to negotiate in the future.

Well I think it just adds to the "sand dollar" look! It brought me in from your thumbnail to look! :) Very nice!!

Well it's very nice but as I asked on another fractal what the heck is a sand dollar - my excuse is I'm based in the UK!

The sand dollar is in actuality the skeleton of a sea creature similar in form to a sea urchin. They are most often found washed ashore on sandy beaches, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. When alive, the sand dollar looks very little like the skeleton that they have inside. An old saying is that they are "mermaid money."

What;s weird is real sandollars have little pits like that in the middle.. at least ones i have seen.. perhaps you have emulated nature a bit to closely there with your fractal.. it is beautiful by the way

Cool sand dollar. The one thing we both got wrong is they only have 5 'petals' on them. But who cares! Awesome job!

Stunningly realistic fractal work, right down to the assymetric pits in the center. Your control of color tone and lighting lend this delightful depth and elegance. The departure from realit to seven-fold symmetry does not put me off - so it's a mutant hybrid - it's still a stunner! VOTE
