Description


While hiking along a trail in Echo Canyon in Death Valley, CA, I saw these fuzzy pink footballs!!!! LOL :P Really, they are called Barrel Cactus and they usually get these beautiful red blossoms that really stand out in the desert. This year there was not enough rain and so there were few wildflowers. Thanks to all who viewed and commented on my last post. Thanks for all the warm welcome backs! LOL i dont know how fuzzy they are i wouldnt wanna cuddle withem ... they look quite prickaly!! (.funny but true story -..got one of those cacti stuck into my big toe wearing sandles once on a fri the 13th now i always wear closed toe shoes on fri the 13th LOL!!! ..)

Wonderful cacti - there doesn't seem to be room for any more spikes, they're just chock full of'em! Probably not a very good idea to try them out as footballs... Very nice!
