Description

~With the good comes the bad.~ This is the winter look of my wild rose bush. These roses are very fragrant in the summer, but if you want to pick one you risk getting stabbed by the prickles! In the winter the red berries, called Rose Hips, are the brightest thing on the bush. These berries can be picked and boiled for 10-15 minutes to make a tea that has more vitamin C than oranges! (I haven't tried it yet...) Thanks for the visit! Your kind and encouraging words on my March in Minnesota pic are greatly appreciated. Jodie :0)

If you use porsons on your rose's do not make the tea. It will have the porson in the berries. But this is a super looking photo

Beautiful colors and compo. You better be careful if you're gonna pick enough for a nice cup of tea - those thorns look pretty vicious! Very nice capture!

Those rose hips are a bit past their prime, aren't they? I've eaten fresh rose hips (in the Boundary Waters Wilderness area) but I've not tried the tea, yet. I think the rose hips have to be fresh for that. You're right about the Vitamin C content! Great photo... ready for Spring to begin... any month, now..... . . . .
