Description

Why is it that in the face of tragedy we are always suprised to find that people, business's and communities actually have a heart. On friday night 2 of the most popular Aussie rules football teams (Essendon and Richmond) played their final practise match here in our little part of the country. Tickets were so cheap even those on very low income could afford to go to see a memorial match for the 6 teens who lost their lives. They were this cheap because all costs were covered by donations - Quantas supplied a plane for the players, The council and other business provided all else that was needed so all money raised went to the memorial fund. There was a limit of 10,000 tickets for safety reasons and I stood in line from 5am to get one for Daniel (a keen Essendon supporter). I have since found out that Quantas also provided free flights for close friends to visit those who were in hospital and the friends and families who attended the funerals from out of town. This makes good business sense except there was no publicity of their generosity. A lot of other information about generosity of heart and pocket have come out of this tragedy. But why does it suprise and amaze us when it happens? 5 days with lots going on here plus 2 kids home on school holidays sort of kills any inspiration lol sorry Chris :o)

Gorgeous artwork! I've always told people not to show up at my funeral if I don't see/hear from you during my lifetime. I hope, I return that gesture in kind to others. Well done, Miss Chris. T.P.
