Description

(Firstly, my apologies if this comes out too dark on some monitors! I know that can be an issue with night-style pics!) This one was inspired by a TV program on the natural history of Britain, and the fact that only 8,000 years ago, the whole island was home to the Wild Wood - a vast untamed forest that covered almost the entire country. Tangled, deep and populated by wolves, bears, boars and elk it was unlike any remnant that remains today. Which got me imagining what it must have been like to try and travel through it :) hence the pic. (Yes, I know, its pure fantasy, not historical! And alright, I couldn't resist adding a red riding cloak to her either - no hood though. ;) Well, you never know. If the (long-discussed and much argued) plan to re-introduce wolves to some parts of Scotland ever happens, we may yet see it again! Hope you enjoy it. Comments and thoughts always welcomed. Thank you also to everyone who left advice on dragon-posing. It was all appreciated and valuable :) Cheers, and happy rendering! Its a bit more scary than Sherwood Forrest!!! We do still have some Ancient woodland left in England (Witsmans wood on Dartmoor is Fairly close to me and is pretty damn spooky) Love those wolves and the lighting on their backs!!

the wolves are really vicious looking. The mood is very uncivilized and great expression on the girl! The lighting is perfect too. Excellent concept and image! :)

Spooky indeed, this looks like it would be right at home in one of Brothers Grimms tales. Its a good thing she saw them before they saw her, but still it looks like they got wind of something. Love the lighting and the soft mist. The expressions on the faces tell it all; the alpha looks mighty determined, and his pack looks loyal, following his lead. The woman looks concern but calm, like she knows how to handle herself in these woods, and this is just one of the many nuisance of traveling this path. Love it, I simple love it! : )
