Description

On a winter cold day we went to the beach :-). So far, I've got the most different comments about this photograph. From "you should have used the flash", "yeah, ok", "Could be good with more sea", "Nice composition and light", "love the small stones", "the most interesting picture I've seen for quite some time", "the atmosphere is amazing" and "stunning!". So, what about you. Should I have used the flash? :-) Thank you all for your kind comments on my previous postings.

Definately "NO" for me...not your style. One of the reasons you are in my fav's is because of your lighting techniques..never a blue sky. This would go against your grain if you used a flash here for me. Keep using your fine judgement, it has been a winner so far! The lighting is just fine here, it seperates you from all others...my 2 cents...Aloha!

I have no opinion about flash except the shadow on the boy would be lost and I think that makes the image. does look very cold

used the flash and mess up a prefectly surreal photo. no way I hate flashes anyway. They flatten out the images for one thing.

It is a great shot what makes it different from an ordinary shot is the fact that you did not use flash. Good job

No, flash kills the mood. The mood should tell the story: Come on, we cant stop every 5 centimeter- but mam, look at these stones, there like dinosaursdroppings - yes dear, would you please come now? If psoosibel I almost never use flash, it makes thing "feel" more flat. And, whats against natural darkness and dusk? Super moody and nice composition. Its not about the sea, its a story.

Fantastic image! I love the emptiness of it, the composition is wonderful those stones create a great line in to the image, defiantly no flash for me the lighting creates the perfect atmosphere for the scene.

I don't think you should of used a flash either. As any photographer knows, there are moments when you shouldn't use any kind of artifical lighting what so ever. I think you've captured the mood and feeling of this image perfectly. As everyone knows...... a day at the beach isn't always sun & fun. It can be a cold & harsh world that you've just stepped into. As for those 'stones', aren't those bits of sea shell? If I had taken this image, I would P R I N T & F R A M E ! ! ! this. {{VOTE}}

Not using a flash was a good choice. Otherwhise the flash light would have broken this special mood you captured so well.

No flash, that would have taken some of the naturalness about the scene out. Supurb composition and contrasts, and what a beautiful mood.
