Thought provoking as usual Kort..thanks for reminding me about the death spiral we are all inevitable on. When I hit 50 I decided it was time to have some fun and enjoy the things I worked hard for instead of putting it off till tomorrow. Reality really sets in when you figure you got 20 yrs. left if your lucky. So I live each day like it's the last, and don't worry as much about the things I can't change. I buy my toys when I want and kick my conscience in the groin when it tries to reason with me. Stopping the down hill slide is impossible, but putting the brakes on it to slow it down is not...I got my Flintstone brakes on and am enjoying each day...Thanks for the great shot and words of wisdom! I perfectly know what you mean. We all experience that, anyway. 5 years ago, I was working at CERN, one of the greatest research center in Europe and the old scientists I used to talk with tried to establish a theory to explain that phenomenon of time distorsion. When you say "the end is no longer unimaginable and we begin to think of life in terms of what is left rather than how much we have lived", this is perfectly true but not enough! 'Cause you only give half of the explanation, the future half! The past half is also very important to clearly understand that distorsion. It's a matter of references of comparisons! Any lapse of time is interpreted in comparison whith all the references you've got in your past life! A lapse of time of one year is not interpreted the same way if you're 5 years old than if you're 50! A lapse of time of one year is the fifth of the sum of all your references when you're 5 years old but it's just the equivalent of the short period of "last year" in the other case... This can appear obvious but I think it is also very important: the way we constantly refer to what we have already lived! As always, coming in your gallery is a real source of pleasure...

Thanks for the words...your image looks very professional. 'Time' is my favourite Pink Floyd song as well. I remember really LISTENING to the lyrics for the first time about 7 years ago...and it had a real effect on me. The lyrics are a source of great anxiety for me but I still love that song for it's amazing sound and lyrical genius.

Gotta agree with Punaguy. I was lucky in one way. My Mother was kind of an unofficial natural buddhist. She would say " Enjoy and appreciate the little things " which is another way of saying "Be in the moment ". It has gotten me through some very hard times. Excellent work here. Isn't it strange that when a person passes away the invariable question is how did he/she die rather than how did he/she lived! Living is a process whereas death is instantaneous. Why do we then attach so much importance to that moment in time rather than the whole evolution of time of our living which often contributes so much to enrich others' lives?
