Description

This picture was taken from the inside the throne room at Neuschwanstein castle in southern Germany. Neuschwanstein was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and is commonly known as the 'fairy tale' castle. It was also the inspiration behind Walt Disney's castle at Disneyworld in Florida. I took this during an unforgettable trek through Europe two years ago. Thanks for looking!

What an impressive photo!!! I remember this, must be the Oberammergau region in the Bavarian Alps (?). The Castle itself is a wonder to see, and the landscape is just breathtaking! Excellent shot!!

King Ludwig knew where he would place his throne. You know they had no Bryce or Vue in those days. So in order to have such a nice view one had to do it the tough and hard way of conquering the land and building a castle! What are those circles in the forest on the left side of the hill on the other side of the lake? excellent picture; thank you for sharing this magnificent view.

Excellent shot. I love this castle and the region very much. Because it is not so far from Munich: One visit per year is obligation.

And this is the guy they called 'Mad Ludwig!' Odd perhaps but then all genius is... besides it was also his version of the WPA... spending personal money to help the locals thru a depression. That's a rare genius... he is entitled to his view. ;-)

Wow, this vista is breathtaking, from this special location! Love to see this vista! Reminds me of a Star Wars episode as well although that might have been shot in Italy! :)
