Description

My first real attempt at an image in Carrara. But I'm pretty pleased at what it can produce.

Interesting image, though, if you don't mind me saying so, the shadows on the dialler look a little odd. Kind of washed out. Anyway, welcome to Carrara. It's capable of a lot of cool stuff. Keep posting :-)

Oh you can. That's excellent! Knowing what Carrara can do and seeing the posts here, I think the potential og Carrara has not been fully discovered yet. You are on a great track, but I have to agree with logican about the shadows. The stargate dialer looks a bit odd.

Thanks for the feedback so far - think I'll sneak into the Carrara forum and see if I can get some tips on what I'm doing wrong with the shadows..

I think that you have simply too many lights of almost equal power and all of them are hard (just have a look on the floor). You should select only a few to mark your shadows and the remaining lights (that you need to light the scene correctly) should be dimmed and shadowless or with very-very soft shadows. And of course, welcome to the Carrara gallery :)

Welcome. Excellent modelling. Gawd you should have seen my first, or even later... The lighting...well you might try less lights and a little more ambient light(often considered poison, but sometimes effective)I say this because rather than being washed out, the image seems a bit "blacked out". Also you might try experiments(time consuming tho' they are) with indirect lighting and caustics. Still, I wish my stuff was in the same league. Keep rendering...practice makes FUN!
