I love the light effects on this, they really caught my eye.

The lights look like photoshop post because they appear to be within the room. If they are lens flares within lightwave set them to fade behind objects. Your gate is buried in the floor. No while in some TV scenes the set designers made the boo boo of doing the same. The gate rings need to rotate, also the event horizon will obliterate anything it comes in contact with while the worm hole forms. So burying the gate part way makes for disaster. My I suggest that you make a trough in the floor and rais the gate up until the inner circumference is just above the floor surface. This would go along way in making the scene more accurate. Nice work so far. And I look forward to seeing it completed. If you want a nicely detailed stargate. I have one available for download in the Lightwave Forum backroom right here on renderosity. It is a multi layer mesh so you can animate the inner ring if you wish.

The gate in this series is like the atlantean gate, it dials "digitally" -- the ring doesn't rotate. Also, I did the same thing here the Ancients did with their stargate when I buried it in the floor. In fact, if you watch the series closely, you'll note that the Earth gate and the Alpha Site gate are just about the only ones that aren't buried into the stand or surface that's holding them up.
