Description

This castle was built in 1175 by the Counts of Blonay. With the exception of a short period (1752-1806) it has remained in the family ever since. The current Count of Blonay still lives here. How many houses in Europe have remained in the same family for more than 800 years do you think? ;-))

Splendide!

Fantastic photo, the B/W treatment really makes the castle stand out, and the history added to it makes it even more impressive.

Not too many I would guess, but more than in most places in the world. In the US, that is a total non-issue. ;] Lovely capture.

Really nice light and shade. Did I ever mention that you would probably like Simon Marsden photography. You'll find him on Google. Quite extraordinary that the same family still lives here. Full of ghosts, I bet.

Too bad if you're born in the second half of the 18th century! ;) 8 centuries is quite a nice time, I hope they will have solved sewage problems, else it can accumulate into nasty smellings LOL! Fantastic capture, Charles, love to see all those details! :)

Beautiful perspective and especially having managed to get the sky so very dark, which only helps to set the castle apart from the background. Thank you for sharing. Egmont
