Nice pic but they are a bit too clean. Having worked on both planes. KC 135 could be kept relativly clean due to the gloss paint. F-4E however were almost always filthy. they put out so much smoke you woudl swear they were powered by coal the tail surfaces were always sooty and it coud not come out. F-4E were noisy too they sound like the god of thunder just awsome. Modern jets just don't get that sound anymore. Flew in a 135 before twice and as far as F4E I could only manage to sit on the ramp in the wizzo seat with the engines at full afterburner that in itself was a rush.

Thank you for your comments. I flew F-4s for 10 years. I now fly f-16s. You are correct about both the sound and the soot.

Excellent work here. My dad was a mechanic at Ellsworth AFB in SD, 1966-70. Worked on the KC-135, F4 Phantoms, and the F-111 Tactical Fighter....but, primarily the B-52. Great to see these "classic" jets brought to life.
