Skiarena Nassfeld 2/3 by Ikarius

Skiarena Nassfeld. Austrian Alps. This was quite a difficult shot. For me and my cam. The TTL-exposure messure (the very first that was ever built in a cam!) was distracted by the diffuse light and the severe cold and strong wind didn't allow to take long adjustments. Asahi Pentax Spotmatic (1964), Super-Takumar 1:1,4/50mm. Kodak diapositive ISO 200. Scanned with Canon CanoScan 8400F. Kindest regards, Ikarius.

Breathtaking photography!

Dear nattarious! Thx a lot for Your very nice comment about my posting (fat-air too!)! You are totally right, the grain is horrible! But, the reason, the causer, is not the scanner, which is working really fine. The reason is me. The shot is totally underexposed and I had to work really hard to push the light in the postwork process. And, as You know, that produces a lot of noise. I tried to get a well balanced outcome between noise and sharpness, "noise reduction" of PSP CS2 does it's best, but the source picture is not the best, and so is the final result. Again, thx a lot for your posting and I hope to see You soon in my gallery again! Your are very welcome! Kindest regards, Ikarius.

Now that's what I call dedication to your craft! This reminds me of the scene in Lord of the Rings when they're lighting the signal fires. The cinematography in that scene still gives me goose bumps. Bravo! V

Wow. I mean, wow. I could say a thousand words, but your picture says far more than that.

What a view. I get a real sense of being there and can almost smell the crisp, clean air.
