Wow! How things have changed. I am not sure exactly what message this idol gives to me other than a blurred vision of what my grandmother may have looked like naked. Nice photo thogh. KP

Fascinating upload Kortalouche.I love the quiet feeling I get from this pic. There's something very soft and zen-like about it to me.Oh,and wonderful notes as well.I enjoyed reading every word. But you know,it made me wonder...why does Venus always have arm issues?Lol.-M ;^)

The text is the usual nonsense, about as significant as the fact that "orchis" means testicle in ancient Greek (in Latin associated with "testify"). Corpulence or preganancy? And why implicitly the assumption that a male carved this example of what is now a whole tribe of such prehistoric "Venuses", hoho? Human fat as--well, you got the Hottentots (or did until the Dutch AND the Zulus wiped them out). Then you got the Polynesians with Kings and such, apparently as emergency rations on long sea voyages (and how 'bout them Poi dogs, hehe). Nuff said...for the moment....Oh the image, nice soft low light and glaze gleam....

Sure like this depth. This kind of DOF always makes an image seem so realistic,as if I could touch it. a good read too.

One of these days I have to paint or draw out an idea I had based on this. You see the model with her enormous features and plaited hair standing on a rock while a class of Neolithic art majors sculpt copies of her.

A very telling image! Thanks for all the info! The mother Goddess or the symbol of fertility is common among most sculptural epochs and religions. It represents the energy form in India. Looks like we have had this symbolism from the msity days of history!
