Interesting: a strong feel of moving along the tracks into the distance, with no visually keyed hint of what might come out of the distance or what might be behind. Curve? Or some late and cryptic vestige of too much highway driving? Did them Injuns and T.E. Lawrence's raiders see them RR tracks in terms of left and right rather than forward ("Progress"?) and backward ("Regress"?).
