Description

Thank You for kind words, compliments and inspiration, my dear friends! It is so pleasant and makes us happy You like our work. Reading Your comments makes me smile. On the one hand my friend is docile but not very obedient. So taking pictures takes us a lot of time and fortitude ;-) Gunnar prefers to gallop around the house or yard, chew bones, watch TV (he really likes programs about animals and birds and games like soccer, hockey, etc, no kidding!) or look in a mirror (!) - a kind of narcissism is his foible. So photosessions are somewhat a torture for both of us - he can't sit still and I can't focus on him (especially using a medium format film camera - focusing isn't so simple and fast as on a DSLR). On the other hand it takes us lots of patience to achieve the effect we want (all the photos are taken at home - Gunnar can't sit still when outside and I don't have a photostudio, so arranging light is a big problem :-( I had got a fantastic book "101 Salivations: For the Love of Dogs" (http://tinyurl.co.uk/mfhj) by Rachael Hale (http://www.rachaelhale.com/) not long ago and was deeply impressed by her magnificent portraits (I feel sorry I hadn't got the book earlier when my friend was a tiny puppy! :-( so we decided to achieve that highly artistic levels in our portraits, so our ambitions are too high to be satisfied with a plain mediocre photo to prove Andrew Rooney' s saying that an average dog is more attrctive than an average human being. (One of the most "enigmatic" questions for me is what is her equipment (i. e. lens first of all, she uses a large format film camera 4"x5", but perhaps the camera formatis the most essential factor here and I should get one - ?! - in any case she achieves a fantastic DOF and bokeh that add fabulous mood to the portraits). So we are going on with the Portrait series (http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1193256 http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1191269 http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1190580) with the same model ;-) and today we have a slightly different genre - romantic portrait... Your comments (as well as critics and suggestions) are welcome! With kindest regards, -Anthony.

Taking pictures of any animals never an easy task,(unless they sleep, but not much fun in that) photograph like this make you forget all the troubble, begging for sit and stay and so on. Excelent job on a series...and I hope is not finish yet!!

Beautiful work! As one who has once had 'two' St. Bernards and then a miniature dachshund (17 yrs.) I really enjoy this! I give it 'two' woofs up! T.P.
