Description

Hortus Botanicus 1590 Leiden The Hortus Botanicus was founded in 1590, less then a mile away where Rembrandt was born in 1606. It is very likely that Rembrandt has wondered around in this garden, looking at all kind of exotic plants. From the first day the Botanic Garden was open for the Public. There is still one plant from the early 17th century, and quit a few very old trees, well over the 200 years old. This is the view over the winter garden, if you peep through the windows you can see a collection of plants in baskets, which are during winter time indoor. The photo was taken the first of April, and the next week all the plants are now outdoor, until the end of the authum. Have a very nice weekend Henk
