Description

Yesterday Tigger all of a sudden developed a disease that attacked his brain and a variety of other organs. Diagnosis is grimm. He might not make it through the week. I have put a lot of details on my website. If you are a cat lover or if you know something about cats I would appreciate if you could check it out and give me some advice. I am to exhausted to write more. Please see my site for details. aguntherphotography.com

Thanks for your uplifting comments. He has been shaking violently for most of the day and already had multiple seizures. It tears my heart apart to see him like this. Tina (my other cat) has now become very upset too. We had to separate them to avoid trouble and stress. We may need to hospitalize Tigger next week if things don't improve soon and maybe we have to decide to put him to sleep to shorten his suffering.

So sorry to hear about Tigger's plight :( It won't help much, but your image of Tigger is wonderful.

I copied it from the Wallpapers Section of my Website. Didn't have the nerve to look around for another one (hence the copyright). I never thought I could get so attached. It drains a lot of strenght from me today.

A brain tumor is still a possibility but it looks more like an inflamatory disease. We don't really know whats wrong. He is pumped up on 2 Antibiotics, Potassium and Steroids. His face has fallen in and his body is having spastic contractions. Sometimes he gets a seizure during which he jumps in the air, falls on his back and bites his belly. It is exhausting him a lot. But he can't sleep.

Should I keep Tina locked up in the room she has been in since yesterday? I am afraid to put them back together. When he gets a seizure she may get frightened and attack him.

On a cat forum I found out that a healthy cat will always try to kill a dying cat. It's in their nature. Even if the cat is as nice and mellow as Tina.

I am very sorry to hear that Tigger is so ill. I send all good intentions for him to regain his health. I have two cats and they are like my kids, so I know how hard this must be!

Wait and see what the medication does. If it does'nt help maybe it's time to put the cat down. I had to put down my 19 year old cat Becky recently. Her kidneys were failing. She had gone into convulsions a couple of times. She got to the point where she was stagering and falling down when she walked. It was time to put her down. Becky was cremated and is in a walnut urn I made for her. I think of her every day. I have 2 other younger cats and they new Becky was sick. They let her be. I hope something wonderful happens and your cat recovers. Please let us know.

I am not yet ready to give up on him. He is just 5 years old. Too young to go. He seems slightly better, but he started to smell like amonium. Either from his breath or from his urine, I am not sure. Could be the stuff is getting out or could be everything is worsen. I don't know. Tomorrow will bring clarification. He started to respond again and the seizures are less frequent, but that could all be for different reasons.

I visited your website - and so sorry about your Tigger, it's so sad - almost made me cry! I have 3 boys (cats) who are almost 6 years old but unfortunately I've never heard of such a condition, that can develop so suddenly - over the space of one afternoon - showing such big damage to his organs... what could possibly 'work' so fast?!

This is such a beautiful kitty and loved for certain. I will check the site and get back if I can add anything helpful. A prayer for Tigger, too.

Thanks purple angle. I cried at the vet yesterday, when it was suggested that he may not recover. His condition may have been there for a while but it did not show. There were some weak symptoms during the course of 3 days but it didn't seem like anything bad. Thanks Tom, your prayers are very welcome.

Don't let him suffer too long. We have the possibilities to help our pets out when it's necessary. Know how difficult and hard these kind of decisions are but the best way for your friend i think. Wish you a lot of strength.

He is a fighter. Took him to the vet where he had several seizures. All diseases tested negative. Don't know whats wrong. Tigger is now hospitalized until the Vet talked to the Neurologist. He has developed hypersensitivity. Touching him seems to cause him a lot of pain, which makes it very hard to administer his meds, as he gets very violent (believe me a violent cat is hard to handle). But he has still the fighting spirit. He hasn't given up yet, so I have no reason to want to put him to sleep.

Thanks grylin. Looks bad though. We have no diagnosis. Although his kidneys are improving we have no diagnosis. He is on anti-convulsants, steroids, potassium and antibiotica now.
