Description

I'm used to ProPack..where this render at 4000x3000 at 300dpi would have taken my machine about 15-20 mins max.. The day before yesterday I put this image to render in poser6.. after 17 hours Poser told me "there was a problem rendering" - and froze to a halt... So I set it again to render yesterday afternoon, reducing max texture size and full image resolution to 3000x2500 at 150dpi... This morning when I got up I was informed "there was a problem rendering"... so.. she's gonna have to be feetless cause I'm not waiting over a day again for her Did I mention I hate poser 6? Sparrow 2.0 by Andi and me..except for her second skin, she's wearing clothes from Darkscorn, as shanim and Eloroncedark

Poser 6 was just trying to leave you a black area for you to put the image title... honest ;) Sweet pic, sorry about your hassles.

Yep, 27 hours it took me to render an image and the skintone and lighting looked awful! That's why i won't use P6! Anyway, Sparrow looks amazing in that outfit and i love the setting! Excellent!

Shoot girl, if my render took 17 minutes I'd be cancelling and probably shutting Poser down LOL!! This turn out amazingly well (all to her feet)!! The lighting and the textures on the outfit and props are great!! Most excellent work hun!! now I know her secret to making great images hehehe!!!

I've owned poser 4, pro pak, skipped 5 and bought 6. I tried working with 6 for as long as I could but it was just so gawd awful slow that I couldn't take it any longer. So I removed it and lost money paid into it. I refuse to use it again. I understand your burden. The texturing of the rocks and the outfit are pretty cool. :)

LOL !!! So feetless it shall be. Poser6 is not winning many awards is it. I am still trying to work with it but there are many things I liked better with Poser 5. Have considered putting both on my machine so I can use whichever version works best for what I am doing. Do you have any idea why Poser 6 has such a hard time rendering a moderately complex image ? This has happened to me and I am confused. Even happens sometimes when I set the render to the lowest settings. AND with dynamic hair it struggles, coughs, and often dies on me. Poser 5 had absolutely no problem with dynamic hair. Seems very odd to me this difference. Well, despite the lack of feet, she is gorgeous. Fabulous textures on the rocks, on the clothes, wherever !! Excellent work !!!

well even wwithout feet this is an awesome render, well done! what might help is if you lower the 'bucket size' in the render settings. As I understand it that reduces the amount of ram that's being used while rendering each square.

This is so beautiful! I love the colours and textures you've chosen, and your postwork really makes your images shine! Such a shame that it wouldn't render completely. I really feel for you. :( I'm starting to get a bit ticked off with P6 myself... did a render last night and had the same problem. It got to a certain point and just refused to render anymore. (some wierd message about bucket size, and some other stuff, that I got on another pic just a couple weeks ago). If I use the P4 engine I have no problem, but turn the volume on for atmospherics and it's a given that my scene has to be REALLY simple or else I'm going to have a problem. sigh

It's a shame you've had problems rendering this as it's a wonderful piece of work! Beautiful model & great detail.

i've never had the opportunity to even just poke around in P6 [i've seen screenshot tho..lol], but from the sounds of it, i doubt i'd be held by the sway of its charm over my lack of patience... [i] love how you put her "outfeet" together tho :))

What kind of render settings are you using? I when I get issues, (if there are no shaders or raytracing), I'll use the P4 render engine. If I need shaders or IBL lighting, then I would either, cut down the max tex size (which you did) turn the raytrace bounces down, max shading to about.5 and turn visible in raytracing off for any hair. Course, this is from memory, if I were sitting at my pc, I'd give you my exact render settings. Image looks good though, despite being feetless. I could never wait 17 hours for a render. Now, I'm going to have to look into getting Sparrow, she's been in my sights for awhile. I think with all the special new things in P6, it just takes some time to get the render settings that suit you best. Some of the effects are worth it. I hope this helps.

I'm still trying to learn to use P6 too Jen. Kicking and screaming, I might add! This reminds me of when I used to draw more often. I'd get to the feet and be kind of bored with it, so many of my drawings were feetless! ;-) Nice combination of clothing and textures!

The really scary thing about this image.. is that it's not even finished - but still better than most other images in the poser gallery. Exceptionally done

Looks great. Sorry about the lack of feet and all. The dark of the "bad render" blends well with the image so it's not too noticable. The resy of it looks great though. Nice work.

Well Windows Paint is faster than PhotoshopCS2, as is PP compared to P6, and P6 memorymanagement is not really state of the art, but it has lots of functions 6000$ highend render progs have and costs a fraction. For images without advanced highlights, reflections, glas, volumetrics..... PP might be better and lots faster but IMO PP is very limited and the renders needing lots of postwork. Lightsets made for PP are not good working with Firefly and you need a highend PC with at least 3 GB RAM for P6, hightech has its price..:-) Anyway you can still use the P4 renderengine in P6 and have the advantage of the comfortable userinterface. You can use the area render and render only the missing part, sticking the pices together in postwork, saves some time...:-) ~Uwe

Superb image - Sparrow is beautiful and the outfit and textures are excellent!!! Must say I wouldn't wait 17 hours for an image - thats what I call patience!!! Only ever had P6, so can't compare to P4 or PP, but I always turn off raytracing for hair and reduce the bucket size - seems to help a lot.
