Description

THE GREAT SPHINX AND THE PYRAMID OF KHAFRA. Giza, Egypt. The Great Sphinx is one of the worlds oldest statue's with the face of a man and the body of a lion. Carved out of the surrounding limestone bedrock, it is 57 metres (260 feet) long, 6 m (20 ft) wide, and has a height of 20 m (65 ft), making it one of the largest single-stone statues in the world Thank you for your previous supportive comments and taking the time to view. Striking work, well done. It looks like a huge sandstorm approaching. I'd love to see the Great Pyramids.

the geological dating of the erosion of the sphinx puts it over 10,000 years old. it is speculated that the statue originally had a lion's head and marked the beginning of the age of Leo when it was built.
