Description

This shot was taken on a Saturday afternoon quite a few years back (1989 to be exact). It is a shot of Cinderella's Castle out at the Magic Kingdom (Disney World) here in Orlando. Funny story about the photo, I had made a large print of it while I was working at a Kinko's Copy center to show what the new Cannon CLC 500 Color Copier could do, and had this posted up out in the self serve area of the store. I can't count the number of people who had ask me about the picture, usually stating that they had seen the same castle in either Germany, Austria, or someplace in Europe. Most were shocked when they found out where it was actually taken, the most shocked being Walt Disney World employees ( I remember a couple of WDW employees actually arguing with me about it saying that there was no way I was telling the truth since they saw the castle everyday). So with that in mind, I think I'm going to dedicate this picture to the late P.T. Barnum for his words of wisdom "there's one born every minute". Shot was taken with my Pentax K-1000 using a 70-300mm lens, on Kodak TriX 400 ISO film. Photoshop was used to add my standard border, clean up a couple of dust spots (yeah for really old negatives), do a slight levels tweak to clear scanning haze and add my signature. Comments and crits are welcome as usual. Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

I can understand the comments; it does have a Germanic/Gothic feel to it, from the light as much as the architecture. A grand job and a very unusual take on "The Wonderful World of Disney".

Love your commentary. The dramatic perspective and gritty B&W probably threw them off. ;] Superb image!
