Description

Here you see her takeing the bronze out of the mold. to make the mold they shape wax to what they wish; then dip it three times in this stuff. Some stuff that the space programs made for our use. They told me the old way was make the mold out of clay which wieghts a lot. Thissmall piece the clay wold wieght so much they had to get help to pick it up. wow can you think how the bight gaint bronze art was done a long time ago. Anyway they melt out the wax. When the Bronze is cold they can take the mold off then. Here you see her doing just that. Thanks for everything

Cool! I still want to see what it is they made. What a neat process. They make some jewelery the same way, but on a much smaller scale. I've never seen how they do bronze so this is great!

my first bronzes were cast in plaster. the heaviest was for a gargoyle standing about 16" with a wingspan of about 14". but he was thin. non-traditional. only about 4 lbs of bronze. the plaster for it weighed over 100 lbs. i love the ceramic shell casting process. except for having to wear a mask. better than silicosis or lung cancer, though... i also would get lightly burned on occassion because i was busting the piece out of the mold while still a few hundred degrees! thanks for sharing!

Lost wax is investment casting. Lost foam is a bad for the space shuttle and good for general Motors. The language dances on unbelief and shines on belief. What is not seen in a single view is very prescient in a casting. Even porosity is important that has no surface flaw.
