Description

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my work. This picture is my tribute to the classic TV series Space: 1999. I thought it was time for the exiles of Moonbase Alpha to get their due. Therefore, I borrowed the theme from my favourite episode of the first (and best) series and used it to bring the story of the rogue Moon full circle. Here the Moon has finally ended its long wandering and orbits an alien star. In the same vein as the original plot, terraforming has miraculously begun and is making the Moon into a life bearing planet of its own. Thus, the cataclysm in the premier episode "Breakaway" can be seen as labour pains preceding the birth of a new world. As a side point, you will note from this picture that Eagle pilots have finally overcome their fear of flying in front of stars. Unfortunately, they are still having problems with the larger objects like the Moon. Well, I suppose Alpha wasn't built in a day either. This is my first space scene rendering, which was completed largely with Poser 6. The starfield and the addition of lakes to the Moon's surface were accomplished with GIMP 2.2 in pre-production. GIMP is turning out to be a really handy piece of freeware. As always, I like to give special thanks to those artists who's free contributions were used in this picture. Wolfie at www.wolfiesden.com for the terrific Moon/Planet prop. Edward E Lamb for the Eagle Transport prop found at www.btinternet.com/~tobor/meshes.htm. I also borrowed a graphic from the closing credits of the original TV series and added it to the starfield. I couldn't resist.

To render space images is not easy because to get lot in small area without lossing what you focusing on. You did well in this rendering.
