Description
this lady stays at this bus stop nearly 24 hours a day. only during the most severe weather does she leave for shelter. she is a very nice old lady and does not pan handle. people do give her money and she gets a social security check each month. she has been offered a free place to live and she refuses. she buys her cigarettes and coffee at the store behind her.

I would love to hear her story someday! That would truly be most excellent for us both, I'm sure! Splendid capture Richard! This is the kind of scene that cameras were invented for! Have an awesome weekend my friend!

Fabulous image. Quite sad really. Glad to hear that she gets Social security at least. Amazing that someone could sit on a bench for 24 hours. Yikes. I can barely sit for half an hour. What a striking image this is with the gas price sign above. A definite social commentary. Excellent work my friend. HUGSSSSSSS. V

I for one respect her choice of life style! She gets to meet caring people on a daily basis, while those more sheltered never do! ;) Powerful capture, it does make me wonder if there was intent behind the Gas Price sign?

Cigarettes - that really irritates me, you've got no money and you smoke, oh well, not my life..

Very nice composition and her optimistic atmosphere. Is she happy or unhappy? Only she knows it.

How sweet it is! That you give a face to her even when its her choice, thank you Richard:-) You know my feelings on this issue and I feel most honored that you did this. Gosh I can even see her swollen ankles..The place I am moving to, is a sort of refuge for the homeless, privately owned by a good hearted artist:-)I may be the housemother there, have not decided that yet but at least it is a start on where my heart is! Wonderful photo, man am I glad I do not drive, lol, those prices and I am going 3000 miles from here HOLY COW! thats a fortune in gas!!! Well anyway thank you so much Richard for your vist and well wishes on my journey! If you ever get to Syracuse you have to top and say HI!!! I will send you my addy and phone number!

Fabulous shot and story!!!! $3.20 a gallon in Texas? You have oil wells there!!! It's $2.79 here in Michigan, but not for long, I'm afraid.
