I think I am a bit too close, I'm right at or closer than the camera's minimum focus distance. Canon SD400 Digital ELPH

You can get as close as 3cm or so, and then zoom in further. I believe at this point the zoom is digital so you will lose resolution if you zoom too much. thanks for the comment!
