Description

This is the head of a new dragon model I'm working on. I wanted to see what it'd be like with some displacement, as I plan on making the final version have hyper detail. So, after I modeled the low res head in Silo, I took the model into Hexagon2 and applied various levels of displacement to achieve...well...this. Comments and thoughts welcome.

Thanks. I'm a bit torn at the moment on Hex2. On the one hand, it's really great but on the other, it does alot of things that are just silly. ;) I'd say if you can get in on the Platinum Club deal at Daz this month, then it's worth it. If not, wait a bit until 2.1 is out which may fix some of the bugs folks have experienced with it. Oh, and be sure you have lots of ram for the displacement tool!

Brilliant design. It reminds me of the big evil creature in "Final Fantasy X" because of the multiple eyes. The displacements really give this incredible detailing.

The displacement is a really cool tool. The only thing that bugs me here is that the eyes(?) are different shapes to each other, I think it would be better if they were consistent. Other than that - terrific as always

FABULOUS work. Trying to get into the HEX2 thing myself, but am having trouble with the UV mapping.

OMG! This bears a STRONG resemblance to my next modeling project, currently just a sketch. Fan-freaking-tastic!!! Hexagon has bugs, indeed, but it is still in it's infancy. Considering it's price point and what they have done/plan for it, it is still my favorite modeling tool at the moment, sure I want Maya, and may get it soon, but for it's price....Not to mention I got in on the $169 intro price and got the upgrade + freebies cheap. But that $1.99 Platinum price can't be beat!! By 3.0 it should be a formidable tool, if DAZ doesn't hose it up. Still waiting for DAZ to come out with Bryce 6.0....

That's fucking awesome!!!!!!!!! I've recently started using Silo as well but so far I'm just making trees and roots! This, however, is masterful!
