Description
the top left is a Tachnid fly and the other is a honey bee. the right shows how much larger the Tachnid fly is. BUT the honey bee's stinger is just as bad. I took these at White Rock Lake Dallas

Hi Richard, great capture! We don't have carpenter bees here (Scotland) but we do have "miner" bees (yeah, they make their nests in a hole in the ground). Over here, the yellower a bee is striped, the more bad-tempered it's likely to bee (sorry, couldn't resist!) :)

I can almost hear them buzzzzzz. Awesome close up and those carpenter bees are like helicopters. I'd much rather look at them on pictures than real life. I'm getting my can of raid out now..... Excellent Richard........
