Description

A little further the limestone shows up in different appearances, in layers that remind me of the Grand Canyon. The broad-leaved trees stand out by the fresh new green leaves, but within a month the light green will turn into darker green tones, making it difficult to distinguish them from the pine trees. Nice colours and an interesting feature. I don't think I would like to be living in those houses though...it looks like it might be prone to rock falls! :00 I think I would have cropped a little differently though. Either included all of the buildings or cropped them out altogether? :0)

Terrific what a bit of (acid) rain can do in a certain period of time! Great picture, J.C.! Have a good Sunday!

It is very interesting what rainfall and acid can do to limestone. I can see it with my own eyes in my alpine garden too. Impressive capture.

Lovely shot, Jan-Carel. Yes, there is a bit of a stepped pyramid look about it. However it does not seem to be crawling with climbers, nor archaeologists ;o) Regards, John.

A wonderful shot - as always. Can I hazard a guess that we are looking at a limestone quarry? I don't remember seeing a formation like this in the Karst Topography unit at university, but I could be mistaken as its been a long time.
