Description
The top picture is one I took July 13, 2005 it was one of the mansions that was constructed before the Civil War. The sign tells about general Ulysses S. Grant when he stayed at the mansion. The second picture is one that was taken from almost the same location as the first, it was taken by a photographer for the Sun Herald newspaper and show is what is left of the mansion after hurricane Katrina. It was used for the headquarters of the invading Union Army. This mansion was in the city of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and was one of approximately 35 pre-Civil War homes along this particular stretch of beach. Along the beach from Bay St. Louis to Biloxi Mississippi there were approximately 80 of these old historic homes. They have all been destroyed, and it is a part of history can never be replaced.
