The planes are good and so is the idea. I just think that 3 mustangs going after 3 FW's in that formation is highly unlikely. Vary it with some close by and others further away. Are the lines extruding from the mustangs meant to be tracers? They look strange. There are air combat artists on 'Rosity with these kind of scenes, that are worth studying. The background is also too even... were you going for cloud or sea? This is a fair start, though and I hope my comments are helpful...

I agree. What can probably help is moving some planes on their axes (left, right, up, down) etc, to see that they're trying to get away. I think at that time, the common practice was for a lead plane, followed behind and to one side, by another. Another possibility would be to bring one of them into the camera area, so that you're looking through the cockpit at your adversary. Clouds, sun, etc., will give it some believability. Give it a shot..you're doing well so far, keep it up.

I wouldn't know a mustang from an FW, but I definitely get the story. It might be cool to depict clouds below them, or something on the ground that is recognizable (buildings, fields, etc).

Thank you for the comments and suggestions. The lines are supposed to be tracers. Also there is a cloud layer below the planes however I seem to be having trouble making that look realistic in Vue. navysquid
