Description
Over Rigel Prime, Starfleet Command unleashed a hidden capability of the new Constitution class heavy cruisers, broadsides! Mounted behind hidden magnetic gun ports in the secondary hull, twelve phaser cannons a side.
The Axanarians, with the help of the Klingons and Gorn, had a strategy of building a few immense vessels partially armored with the skin of a native gargantuan animal, the hide absorbs the energy of phased particles. To counter this strategy Starfleet Academy had come up with tactic of carving up the unarmored areas of these giant vessels with the use of multiple phaser cannons. The Academy cadets would be in charge of the operation of these phaser cannon barrages and so they were referred to as
