Description

Acrylics and fine filler on 45x45cm canvas (rotated 45 degrees) Painted this afternoon, Monday 8th May 2006 Very much an abstract, feeling my way forward tentatively. The blobs were made with fine filler used as modelling paste. Got this far before something inside me said "stop" - I really don't want to overwork it! Thank you so much for taking a look and your thoughts are always appreciated :-)

Beautiful work, Jim! I've been planning to paint a large canvas that I'd hang on the wall beside my bed; and this one is just what I'd love to have there! Calm and cool. You've so wonderfully simplified my thoughts of infinite water and air... Thank you so much for creating and sharing this great work of art. :-)

Super minimalist abstraction Jim. There is just enough to allow the viewer's imagination to take flight. I do 'feel' the title in your painting. Excellent work in the painting, and hearing that inner voice saying 'Stop'.

Sanctuary behind bars? Yes - the feeling of safety and protection within. the world is kept at bay, locked out and away from us! Locked in we are free and can be ourselves but only if we have the key!

I love the way the geometry, symmetry & free brush work all work so well together in this Jim, a striking contrast that something creates a great sense of harmony, nice minimal style & use of colour, simple but lacking nothing!

I feel the 45 degree orientation makes this. Although an abstract, I can't help but see this as a barren landscape viewed from inside a cage. Reminds me of those detention camps stuck out in the outback, even though the cool colours contradict this. Surprisingly thought provoking for a minimal work!

i like this, to me it speaks as though a person is looking from a police cell or prision over te sea, a bit like alcatraz... nice.

Something rarely mentioned, but compliments on the photography that made it digital for us. A thought, but not for this picture, the bars could become more dynamic by eliminating the top (right bar) and removing the bottom on the left bar. As it is they are dissimilar sizes and that makes for interest. Oh yes, I do like the picture - but what's new when I see something of yours. The judgement and creative spirits shines through and therein lies the secret of style.

Bars? I don't see any bars, but parallel lines of sight, passing through the blurry conundrum of life and leading us off into distances unfathomable to those caught within the day to day. Thank you as always for sharing all that you do! Lots of love xxxxxxxxxx
