While many scientists believe an asteroid impact polished off the dinosaurs, some are puzzled by the fact that many late Mesozoic species were clearly extinct before the impact. In twenty-five centuries' time, when the craze for big game hunting takes hold among the wealthy time-travelling set, maybe the puzzle will be solved. Zara Kilmartin has bagged plenty of Tyrannosaurs before and, if this one thinks she looks like lunch, then what they say about dinosaur brains must be true. Zara forgets who it was who said that a raygun is a girl's best friend, but, whoever it was, she knew a thing or two. A single ray does the trick, as always. With practised agility, Zara skips out of the monster's way as it crashes to the ground. The flash of the raygun has disturbed some browsing Triceratops, but, having looked up, they have already forgotten why they did. Zara ignores them. Only beginners bother with easy prey.
