That's an unusual-looking flower. Is it like a Venus Flytrap or something? I'm particularly curious what that red thing in the middle is for. It almost looks tongue-like.

Now that is a pretty neat one. The surface of it makes me think it is a desert dweller. Excellent

The orchid is native to southern Brazil and is found around 700m elevation. The flower you are looking at is approximately 1cm in size. I grow it under warm conditions and fairly wet. The red tongue like appendage is a modified petal (Lip) It is hinged and moves freely as in many species of Bulbophyllum. It is probably some sort of insect attractor encouraging psuedocopulation and pollination. From certain angles it looks like a small fly. The flower hangs upside down underneath the leaf making for challenging photography.

Wonderful capture of this special orchid! Love to see it! Gorgeous work, and indeed, upside down just like the ghost orchid!
