Description
We found two baby cats whose mother abandonned them. We've tried anything possible but the little Akasha didn't make it. She died during the night. Her brother Enkil is well though.
She's been bad for the last day and slowly stopped breathing. The doctor hasn't been able to help us with her.
I don't know if it's the fact I've tried so much to keep her alive or the fact it reminded me of the baby we lost with my wife but it does hurt me so deeply.

AAAAWWW!!! That little thing is just sooo qute!!! You are so fantastic taking them to you, I`m so sorry you lost Akasha :o( But think of it this way, she died in a home filled with warmth and love.. You did something beautiful just trying.. Big hugs C

I am also sorry you lost Akasha. It never seems right that something pure dies, I hope the Enkil grows and makes it. God bless you for trying to care and love when they needed it the most.

You can't do wrong by doing right. Very humane of you. Soooo sorry she didn't make it. I love animals and I love to see other animal lovers doing nice things. I have three big dogs and they're like my kids. So sorry about your other loss also.

Sorry to here about the kitten and your baby. At least you managed to get a picture, lovely shot in B&W. It really is cute and does bring out the mother in anyone...

She has a beautiful face and that is so tragic that she died so young. I know it really hurts to have such a loss, and I have lost many animals to the ravages of the world. They are always with me in memory.

God bless you for giving it a go. We can't save them all, but once in a while we get blessed, and end up with a wonderful little companion. :)

I am only finding this now, almost a year after the fact, but it brought tears to my eyes all the same. I had it happen with a whole litter. The mother had been killed by a car (which is often the culprit when one finds seemingly abandoned kittens) and a woman who had seen it discovered upon going to pick up the body to give it a proper burial that she had been nursing. The woman went on the hunt, but by the time she found the litter, they had been trying to suckle whatever was close to them including the mud in their den. My friend who worked at the vet asked me if I could foster them because I had lots of experience with it. We tried desperately to find a nursing mum for them but couldn't. I bottle fed 6 of them and one by one they died until they were all gone. The mud they had tried to suckle had gotten into their lungs and killed them. The feeling of helplessness and sorry was terrible. My heart goes out to you for both your losses. I hope Enkil has grown up to be strong and healthy.
