Description

Great Grey Owl (Strix Nebulosa) The Great Grey Owl normally inhabits the northern most forest belt of Eurasia and North America, stopping short of the Arctic tundra, which it leaves to the Snowy Owl. The European Great grey is much larger than the American or Asian species, a curiosity perhaps due to preferred food. It prefers the lichen covered forests of pine and spruce, and in East Asia it will inhabit deciduous woodland. Diet is in the main small rodents such as voles and shrews, with some smaller birds and mammals. The Great Grey can hear, track and catch a vole moving around under snow 45cm deep!

It looks as if the owl is partly out of size.. I know he/ she isn't. It is just one example of how beautiful and strange nature can be.. It is a beautiful capture.
