Description

That time of year again for the gurus & geeks to visit the Computer Faire, exhibition mecca for the IT industry and the biggest in Africa! I thought it best to try a collage representing just the most interesting highlights.
It was hosted in Sandton, Johannesburg or Gauteng/Igoli, "the place of gold". Sorry Cape Town & Durban, maybe next time we do it watching the surf! LOL
I found this environment very challenging for photography because I couldn't control any of the props or lights and the place was alive with people milling around.
South Africa's state owned telecommunication monopoly is amongst the most expensive in the world regarding call charges and 3 times more expensive than its closest competitor country on international data links. Recent funding went towards basic social upliftment schemes and not necessarily developing the data communication infrastructure of the continent.
Will the gap between third & first world communications be bridged by satellite?
If you look closely, you will notice that the IT industry is not just about boring computer shops! (LOL) Wouldn't I just love to own one of these wide printers to blow up my photographs.
Thanks for looking. Feel free to leave comments - which are most welcome as this type of photography was a first for me and much different than takings pics of elephants & trees.

Welcome back, Piet. You caught the business, hubbub, and fun of a business convention with your collage. This could be an advertisement for South African business.

Hallo verre vriend Piet! This reminds me so much of the fairs we used to organize with my former ICT-company... and about the fun side: we incorporated cart racing, bunji jumping, body painting, fashion shows and concerts (Grace Jones, Status Quo, The Specials...) You made a spot-on representation here! Good to see your stuff again!
