Description

If you've you've ever been hit by vertigo, you'll know what it feels like when the path ends abruptly, like this, and reappears far below. GULP! ^^/\^^ I've just been on a mind numbing 16 hour health and safety course. Pure torture. Why on earth should we go about striving to completely remove all risk from our lives? HSE regs are smothering creativity for fear of the ambulance chasers. Perhaps thats why you tempt fate and get a little closer to the edge, for the buzz thats systematically being removed from our everyday miserable existences. ~@~ One thing I've never seemed to learn though, is that looking down through a camera makes vertigo much MUCH worse when you take the camera away from your eyes. Thanks for listening to my rant (and viewing)

He he I done this on top of Ben Lomond and scared myself (lots) Rant away! I have to endure all this H&S stuff regularly at work, (dose my head in)and was told that I shouldnt partake in dangerous activities prior to going to work, what a load of killjoys, I asked politely if they could build a tunnel to my street incase I got knocked down on my way home (should only cost 2 or 3 million a small price to pay for my safety lol) to be told that there was no need for negative sarcasm lol. Please excuse me for joining in on your rant, excellent shot and great (but dangerous) POV

Sweet! Youre making me scared and im just looking at it on a screen. I agree, why remove all the risk....would make life rather boring wouldnt it. And have you noticed how many risks youre willing to take if you have your camera with you? I for one only try to bring out bears from the woods by whisteling for them IF i have my camera with me. If i dont have it...then i dont wanna "meat" (LOLOL..how pathetic am i? Sigh) them. Excellent shot Anthony btw....now i hope youll excuse ME for my rant, lol. #:O)

Okie dokey...You did a number on me with this one.I told you I'm afraid of heights!Couldn't you have posted a warning for us sniveling acrophobics?LOL.I actually can feel the height of this and the sensation that I'm about to fall.Glad you didn't.The shot is awesome,if a tad unsettling!...Rant away,Anthony. You make a fine point.Without risk there can be no life.Anything that's worth anything requires taking chances. Thanks for sharing.-M :^)

No I agree... and you are well placed up there among the Highland legends and ghosts!. An up and down stroll for an up and down life. The only difference is that what you shoot up there won't plateau but becomes legendary on the web! Great shot...love those colours and the mind-goggling effect. Vertigo is a horrible thought...adrenalin is brown isn't it!

Nice shot, Anthony, although I reckon someone such as CHRISTIAN could have faked this with his favourite tool, TERRAGEN. I do not fear heights, and have fallen off a few things, including a Post Office roof, in my time. However with a few extra pounds in front, I have what my old Physics teacher would have called 'an unstable equilibrium' - about the only 'librium' I have ;o) Re the HSE, aye!! One HSE 'expert' at Starfleet Headquarters ( Strathclyde Police, Pitt Street, Glasgow ) informed us some years back, after the due risk assessment ( cover one's rear exercise ) that going in plain clothes on FIRST BUS routes to catch vandals was 'too dangerous' since we might be injured from broken glass. Having dodge petrol bombs in the East End of Glasgow, I reckoned that the bus duty was much safer!! Luckily I am out of it now. They were not around 25 - 30 years when we had to use PYE radios in Lanarkshire and most of us became susceptible to growths in the throat and gall bladder for some reason. Not the radios, of course... Sorry, my rant for the day..Regards, John.

This does not bother me at all. Working suspended from high rise towers withonly a safety harness was a daily routine for me. But I do know how the heights can almost make you feel like getting sucked down by the gravity. You could walk on a plank on the ground without a thought....put th plank 30 metres in the air and the "what if factor happens" All it is....nothing more. This image has given a really good effect of the height. Some shots I do like this lose this effect. The shadows you captured really add to it. Bravo.
