****The image itself**** This is an earlier version of my V3 "Caitlen Fairchild" of Gen13 fame. She's a little skinnier than my latest version (posted yesterday). Also, I think I liked the teaser image for this set a little better, even though I love that I finally got a chance to use this freestuff floatation device! I was going to post this later in the summer (like when it actually was summer!) to kick off my "girls of summer" series, but this is a long weekend so I wanted to post something a little more festive rather than the dreary drow pic I had lined up. ****Some linguistic and sociological observations on "Victoria Day"*** For those unfamiliar with the May long weekend in Canada, it is officially known as "Victoria Day" in honour of Queen Victoria, the reigning monarch of the British Empire back in the 1800s. There is also another name for this long weekend, that of "May Two-Four". This unofficial name seems to stem from the fact that it often rests on/around the 24th of May. Also, it may perhaps be bolstered by the fact that "Two-Four" is another term for a case of 24 beers, and much drinking is done on this weekend... That is, when you ask someone what they're doing for "May Two-Four" the unspoken question is actually what kind of partying they'll be up to on the long weekend officially known as "Victoria Day". Despite the historical roots of the weekend, you'd be hard pressed today to find a Canadian who cares much about Queen Victoria, instead this weekend is primarily about 2 broad sets of activites: 1.home renovations/Gardening (if you have a garden) 2.Drinking/Partying (at a cottage or camp site if possible). This year I shall be opting for the latter batch of activities rather than the former. Have a good one :) [comments are always welcome]
