Description

This is a view of Posidonius Crater(center), a walled plain with a small central crater. It is 95 km in diameter and is located between Mare Serenitatis and Lacus Somniorum (Lake of Dreams). The area that is circled(center & above Posidonius) is Ching-Te (reign name of a Chinese emperor). This area is surrounded by massifs; it looks peculiarly dark even in the full moon. Apollo 17 landed near Ching-Te on Dec 11. 1972. To the right of them are the Serpentine Ridges located in Mare Serenitatis (Sea of Serenity). ***Thanks For Looking*** ***Rick***
