Description

[Being chased by the god Apollo] "'Help me, Peneus! open the earth to enclose me, or change my form, which has brought me into this danger!' Scarcely had she spoken, when a stiffness seized all her limbs; her bosom began to be enclosed in a tender bark; her hair became leaves; her arms became branches; her foot stuck fast in the ground, as a root; her face became a treetop, retaining nothing of its former self but its beauty." Thomas Bulfinch, _Bulfinch's Mythology: the Age of Fable_, (New York, NY: Doubleday, c.1968), p.23-24 Must be how overeducated I am, but the first time I saw this character by Andi3d I didn't think of Mother Earth; instead, the myth of Apollo, Daphne, and the laurel tree immediately came into my head. And I'm the first to use this set for that myth and post it here! Character is Fae Fantasy by Illusion Designs; light, pose, and expression modified from originals in products below. All comments welcome. Thanks to all the merchants for such great stuff!
