Description

Today is Memorial Day, a day that we honor our fallen heroes who gave their lives for our freedom. Unfortunately, most people use this day as a fun day out of work or school. It's kind of sad that we can't do something better for the people who are no longer with us. I don't know what the answer is, but I for one want to show my appreciation with this picture of the Statue of Liberty. She is a symbol of our freedom that was achieved with the blood of our young men and women. I want everyone to know that I am proud to be an American.

Lovely thoughts and image. Here in Australia we have Legacy Day, Anzac Day and Rememberance Day. Anzac Day being a day off. The other two days are in our thoughts on those days. Sad days when we remember how many lives can be taken by war. Have a lovely day:) Lest We Forget

She looks great,Ray. Your portrayal does her justice, and so have all the men and women who sacrificed so much for freedom.

I am with you, Ray - I wish more people would truly think about the meaning behind Memorial Day. Fred and I went to a wonderful Memorial Day Service yesterday. Dad would be proud of the picture you did - it's beautiful. Great tribute.

A sincere dedication to those who have been lost and maimed in the national defense of freedom and their homes and families. The weight of all those lives lost and all the suffering of the wounded should should be felt by everyone who values the sacrifices that soldiers and their families have endured. You do Honour to those who have paid the heavy price. Perhaps some day mankind will realize the price of war is so great and the lives ruined or lost were too precious to continue the madness. I would like to think Days of Remberance for the fallen would help prevent wars. Let us each make an effort to be more tolerent of others, less willing to hate and always cognizant of the men and women who answer the call to duty.

Exquisite work and tribute my friend! Thank you for this fine memorial to those whom have made the ultimate sacrifice! I too am proud to be an American! I must say, however, that I am embarassed beyond belief by those claiming to run this fine country! They are running it right into the ground!

Amen! And I too am proud to be an American. A wonderful salute to our valiant men and women who have served and sacrificed their lives for those of us who continue to enjoy liberties and freedoms that few other nations do. Salute to our brothers and sisters of other nations that continue to support us.

I planted my garden in the 95 degree sun and high humidity, mowed the lawn and did a bunch of laundry and cleaned the house today. So, it wasn't a very fun day for me. :) I think of our fallen heros every day, and my family and friends that are no longer with us. I thought of 9/11 and all that has happened since, with each flower I planted. This is a beautiful dedi Ray.

A moving, appropriate tribute Ray. Yes, all too often we just see it as a day off and don't consider why were are honoring this day. Such is the way of holidays I suppose. Thanks for doing this.
