Description

We always atttend at least one ceremony on Memorial Day, a national holiday in the USA where soldiers are remembered. Mostly the older folks show up...and grand kids with them. The most unable to stand will stand. The most unable to salute the flag will do so. These folks remember what the kids have little clue about. It is not a time to argue over which war was just, which unjust. This time is for those who died, for whatever reason each had to hold in battle. For others, it is a day of shopping, sales and bargains.

your words brought a slight tear to my eye...and at the end a little smirk. The image itself...truly beautiful. you don't need to see their faces to feel the emotion of a simple yet time honored gesture such as a salute.

Praiseworthy that they bring along the grand kids and teach them to cherish what is dear.

I'll never forget the old man I was standing next to a couple of years back, who, during the small ceremony in town, was fighting back tears the entire time we stood there. I cried along with him .. Anyway, this is one beautiful shot, and your words are so true.
