Description
Starcrew nervously investigate a seemingly abandoned starcruiser. The trouble is that not all life-forms, especially the ones with the biggest teeth, show up very readily on a stndard sensor-sweep. The starship's systems are almost all active, implying that it was fully crewed very recently...

Marie Celeste, always a good seed for a story. I heard a theory once, they think the food supply of the original Marie Celeste got contaminated with ergot and drove everyone on board insane to the point where they all jumped off the ship. There's a story waiting to be visualized!

When I was working on this picture, I actually wondered whether ergot was, perhaps, the cause of the original M.C.'s abandonment. I suppose it wasn't an acute insight, after all, but a symptom of fading powers of memory :) . The ergot idea seems plausible. Another one is that the crew fled a fire, which subsequently went out, but there should have been at least the odd charred plank.

awesome picture :) by the way, if you want the shaders look glossy and reflective, try to turn the Raytracing on in the render settings, with raytrace bounce of about 2-3, that will be enough :) I love pictures where something goes on :))
