A Tiger for Mea (Photoshop) www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php

I have been drawing since I was 11, some 33 years ago.
My 6th grade teacher, Mr. Knoss, was a great artist and I greatly admired his illustrations. He encouraged me to pursue my artistic interests at a crucial time in my development.
My High School art teacher "Vern", was also a great influence. He always challenged me to try different things.
I was lucky that my parents were very supportive of my interest in art. I studied at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1986-1990). Where I was humbled by many great artists that were far more talented than I. There it was that I rounded out my fine art skills, and then chose to major in Media Arts. Studied film, video and sound. Learned all the skills needed to shoot, direct, edit those mediums.
While pursuing a Media Arts major, I discovered computer graphics, still in it's infancy. This is where I came to an Epiphany. Here was a new medium, that incorporated everything I had previously learned into one new medium. Not only that, but it had new dimensions, interactivity, feedback, randomness, AI. I was hooked.
The next 17 years I learned and grew with the industry. Learning everything from how to create and manipulate digital imagery and create animations, to interface design and interactive authoring. My day job is an Information Architect, a fancy term for software interface design.
A few years back, my wife and I hit on some difficult times (As many people do) and it was during a very dark time in our lives that I discovered what became Renderosity, Initially I posted work, merely as a way to get myself back into the discipline of making new art.
I was delighted to find a world-wide community of talented artists, exchanging ideas and art!! I was thrilled! I have learned so much from you, and your art has brightened up my world. I am lucky to have made some great friends here, and I aim to do tributes to all of you!

Dunno why, but I thought of Planet of the Apes. Maybe it was just the Family Guy episode rolling around it my head. Looks cool! Happy Friday!

I can't tell if the helmet visor is broken, or if it's a reflection of something awful in the glass; either way, it's a very sad image. Poor astronaut, so far from home. Aargh indeed.
jjean21
Marvelous....the reflection in the faceplate is fantastic.
killerpumpkins
Very cool! I like this one very much. KP
romanceworks

I agree it is a great pov. What a lonely picture. Very atmospheric. Why do funny people have a big dark side too?

Hi Rozanne! Because humor comes from pathos, if we're not laughing, we're crying... ; )
robotalk
Powerful and grim ending to a voyage of discovery..exceptionally well crafted work and amazing tension and pathos.
Forevernyt
Hmm, talk about being lost... This poor guy is in bad shape. Fantastic image, for it's spartan design and splash of color, being the only lively thing in it. Well done.
chimera46
Awesome piece here, I love it.

Funny mate "Crashed you mean??" A beautiful render of forbidden freedom. Bravo Eric!!!...:))

Awsome image. I can't help but be reminded of another Ren & Stimpy epsisode. ~o~ We see a spaceship hurtling towards a planet. Ren and Stimpy are at the controls. layers peel off until ship is skeletonized. Finally crashes. CH/CS climb out and dust themselves off. / Ren: Man, It's a good thing that planet was there, or we never would've stopped! We'd better call Space Command. / Both whip out radio-type equipment, try to get frequency. "Calling Space Command, come in, do you read?" They hear Mr. Horse saying 'No sir I didn't like it.' and a voice saying 'Aw, cripes!' / Ren: Well, that's it. Our space time disruptor is melted. We can't leave by our own power, and it could be centuries before another ship violates this sector. (Grabs Stimpy) We're marooned! / Stimpy: Just like the title of this cartoon!

very cool Eric!! something out of planet of the apes.. awesome compo and colors love the creativity here !! EXCELLENT!
helix3d
Damn! I hate it when that happens (being marooned, that is). And the file corrupting kinda sucks too. Wait! If he's dead does that still qualify as "marooned?" Anyway a cool sci fi concept and image. W

Oh wow,Eric! What an amazing piece of work!I love this!Sooo 3-D and soooo brilliantly done.I immediately thought of the 'Twilight Zone'...LOL I'm showing my age...Remember that episode where Earl Holliman(sp?) is wandering alone on some misbegotten planet, but it turns out he's really in an isolation chamber at NASA?...Okay,well maybe you don't...but this immediately made me think of that.Beeee-rilliant work,my friend.Love it.Hope you have a fabulous,non-'doodoo doodoo' weekend,lol.-M :^)

Uh-oh! Sucks to be that guy! O.O Hey, now I want to see that Twilight Zone episode, though. Could there be one I missed in the marathons?? :-( I was actually thinking of the TZ episode where the 3 guys wake up from cryo-sleep or some such, having crashed on some planet. Then after fighting amongst themselves (over the water supply, IIRC) the one guy walks off looking for signs of civilization. He comes back dying and draws that symbol in the sand. And it turns out to be a telephone pole because they just crashed in the desert near some road. Guess it must have been a slow air travel day. LOL.
cynlee
chilling! & looks pretty damn good to me too +++++
Mea
I do like this one a lot. The sand has a nice shape to it around the body and the whole thing is really well framed. The skull and fingerbones are a nice touch.
SkyeKat
Very cool - but sad - so realistic.
