Well, if art is meant to provoke discussion, this piece does meet that criteria. First off, commenting on the artwork. The typefacing could have been better. It would have been better to use the same font and size to make it easier for the reader to focus on it. However, I agree that the "disclaimer" on the bottom be in smaller typeface...just like those legal messages. The self portrait on the bottom has too much green in it...it is a bit distracting to the eye and the viewer can't see you that well. Now, regarding the message. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. That being said...It is a bit callous to imply that the entire US Armed Forces are engaging in the types of actions. Even the Iraqi Government does not agree with that position. It is like saying that because a few people post insulting comments on Renderosity, all people are like that...this we know is not the case. This is the US and everyone has the right to freedom of responsible speech. I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it.

Hello again. I was going to give a design explanation about the fonts etc... but couldn't be bothered. Callous? "I may not agree with what you say" What I'm saying is that I find it disgusting that 'peacekeepers' are litterally murdering innocents....You disagree with that? Mmmmm MrM.....

Well, I'm going to assume, based on past work posted here, that 'something' got in the way of refining the above image so I won't attempt any critique on the "artwork" itsself - perhaps it was a rush to get the message in the text out. What I find interesting, is your comment to MrM, wherein you reinforced my earlier comparison to Herr Josef Gobbells and his perchant for fact distortion...I notice you didn't mention the foreign insurgents killing large numbers of Iraq civillians, not even mentioning all the humanitarian assistance programs the US, military & other agency's perform on a daily basis. I'm ALL for free speech; keeping in mind there's two kinds, as there are in journalism to use oneexample, factually responible & unbiased, then there's the National Enqurer kind...

I am amazed.....truly amazed....sazzart: "fact distortion" Fact: children are getting shot and killed. Fact: Pregnant women are dead. Fact innocent people are dead. I do not understand that you can compare me to Goebbels. AMAZING!! "I'm ALL for free speech, keeping in mind there's two kinds..BLAH BLAH BLAH" Er..."http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=journalism" DO YOU THINK I'M MAKING THIS UP?

Hehe, "foreign insurgents killing large numbers of Iraqis", hoho. As a matter of fact, before the illegal American immigration into Iraq, Muslim fundamentalists, Wahabists, terrorists, and particularly Bin Laden and kin, were not welcome in Iraq. The US fixed that, just as in Vietnam the big noses in the military managed to turn what was a civil war between Nationalist (Diem) and Communist (Ho Chi Minh) forces into a war of Nationalist Liberation against the Americans, hahahahahaha. And yes, the Americans--meaning Lodge and the CIA, in effect assassinated Diem, at least partly because he was strongly against large-scale American forces in country, which he warned would allow the Communists to be fighting foreigners, and thus to declare said War of National Liberation, hahahahahaha. Hussein is rightly laughing his ass off, hahahahaha...if the Americans and the Kurds and the Shiites kill him, they are screwed. If they don't, they are also screwed, hohohohoho. As I predicted long before this last fiasco, and in writing, the winner--IRAN, hohohohohoho. But the real punch line is this--these numbnuts in the American military, from the first War against Iraq through to this murderous exercise, are fighting for HIGHER oil prices.....

couple quick comments. the 3 1/2 inch new GI Joes were in no way even comparable to the classic 12" full size models (the kind that would kick sand in Ken's face and then take Barbie out for a night she would never forget) and are merely fodder for the Hollywood/Military industrial complex to garner new recruits and video game players. that said, we could really get a grip on things by NOT refering to someone you don't agree with as a NAZI! Do you hear? The Nazis murdered Jews, Catholics, Roma (some still call them gypsies) all because they were told that these people were the reasons that Germany had problems. Sazzart, do you have any inkling what it means to be a Nazi, to be called an Nazi? Easy word to throw out. Easy way to lose any respect people might have for you. Freedom of speech is a privilege that some people in this world don't have. don't abuse that privilege! Now. Apologize, shake hands and make up, that's an order!

Put someone in a sh*** situation for about a year, and then don't give 'em any leave. In the meantime their buddies get fragged, they get repeatedly sniped at, mortared, etc. Eventually something's gonna snap. Don't put the entire blame on the trooper, the namby-pampby rich boys (clueless what they're doing to people, but as long as they make money...) pulling the strings that put him there deserve at least half the credit. If it weren't for them, this problem wouldn't exist to begin with.

Lampy: Must every comment that you make be couched in "I'm right. You're wrong." insults? You're the first one to invoke the TOS and the first one they should gag. BTW you mis-spelled "their".

In the war on terrorism if you do not have a constuctive plan to help everybody then please keep you insane hatreds to yourself. Oh and Hopalong, before the invasion of Iraq they did not need foregn terrorists. They had President for life Saddam Hussien and his sons. And their rooms for torture, rape, and murder. Ask the Kurds and the sunnies(i think) how they were treated by their "goverment".

Thank's for the comment demodragon. Do you still think that the invasion in Iraq was about terrorism? Yup, I'm still amazed.

Fantastic piece! I couldn't agree more, the number of Iraq citizens killed is something on the order of 150,000. When I did my piece "Weapons of Mass Destruction", I felt compelled to add the images of dead civilians I found. I see the "Usual suspects" have shown up, to support the war machine. But just know there are at least 55% of Americans that agree with you, and even my dad (A Vietnam vet) thinks this was the stupidest mistake we've made since Nam. Excellent piece! Keep'm coming!

Bravo! Well said and well depicted! I totally agree with Digimon, also agree you should do much more.Thank you for your visit, yes we know there are many other things the USA has been involved in, but we are trying to focus on Peace and to only remind people of a few "wars" so as not to overwhelm or "preach" as it were... Wondered if you might like to submit to the One World Peace Project. Am sending you an invitation, please feel free to just delete but I feel your voice is a worthwhile one in our quest for Peace...

Good points, but dont blame the troops alone. For sure everybody signing in for the military today must be aware of the consequences of this decision. But War brings extreme situations with it, where reflexes are often more dominant than reason. People have to earn money and for some, joining the army is the only way to do so.Therefore those who put people in this situation and use them for their personal profit should be blamed first. And stopp blaming the US Government alone, while you (as people in Germany did) vote governments willing to support it in warfare. Logistical, informative and financial help for war is involvement in war too! Keeping the eyes and mouth shut while crimes are against humanity are committed by allies is supporting crimes against humanity!

War for the sake of war would be a good thing. War with any intentions is a bad thing. Even more if shoddily planned and executed. The losses, military personnel or civilists, are not the problem for people come and go anyways. Since no one will really care and be touched because of todays victims in let's say 2000 more years, there's no logic behind an emotional outburst because of some more deads than usual; like it is the situation since about 1900 caused by some of the better documented wars. It's solely the higher meaning of war that got besmirched by such incompetent actions like the last few so called "wars" were. One can maybe be sorry for the whole state of human beings because there was no noteworthy change for many thousands of years. However, warfare is not bad just because of the poor reason humans wage wars just like sunlight is not bad just because one can get sunburnt or many variants of melanoma. And yes, it's always easy to say do it this way or do it that way or they are murderers because they killed civilians... If bullets suddenly fly around you will do it your very own way anyways and there are only murderers wherever you look and also wherever you forgot to look. After some years of this shit it's more routine and less adrenaline but you can't send only old man that have experienced hundreds of gunfights. It's often a different thinking than while watching TV from one's safe home. You may stand somewhere with your comrades and suddenly hell breaks loose and you will not care anymore if you shoot an enemy soldier or if this soldier is male or female or pregnant or old or a child. If a person appears hostile you shoot. If it's a child with some weird formed stick, that gives you the impression the child is wielding some weapon, you shoot. If you can't say for sure that your target will not shoot at you, you shoot first. If your target is a shadow that makes you think someone is standing there, you shoot. Fast. Otherwise it can easily be that there's no tomorrow for you or your comrades. Sure it's a bad feeling to see you'd just shot a civilian or a child or a pregnant woman or some old man because he moved his crook a little wrong or went around the corner a little to fast. But it feels also good to find yourself and your buddies alive if things calmed down. That's for sure... Very nice picture. I would add some glossy effect to the yellow base. Like if it's plastic-coated.
