Hinduism is more of a philosophy / lifestyle than a religion. Ganesha - A form of principle who would remove obstructions from every process in life with his hypothetical wives - Siddhi & Buddhi ( Logic & Intelligence). Why does he have a head of an elephant? I don't know but this one is the most beautiful of the lot. Smiles and is most favortie among children, like the elephants in India. For those who are unaware of religious and caste issues in India, Ganesha has been the epitome of bringing the whole nation together on his birthday, as there are least pujas/rituals for him.
