Description
A change from my recent insect pics.
This is the Common Spotted Orchid found growing in a meadow near my home in Essex, UK. It was perhaps named when wild orchids growing in meadows were a common sight, this is not the case today.
Many thanks for viewing and any comments left.
Richard.

Wonderful photo of this heavenly flower. Glorious work. We have wild orchids on the clifftops here. One seeded itself in a hanging basket in my back yard :-) HONEST... Hugs.

No.. not in the least it is a common situation nowadays.. sadly enough. Orchids has become very rare in the wild. This is a beautiful picture of a beautiful flower.

Excellent DOF and I can almost feel the texture of the flower, it looks like ink on blotting paper - very soft shapes/patterns!

Thank you for your encouraging comments they are very much appreciated. Now the time has come for me to stop posting on Renderosity. Whilst I have never been one to post popular images that make the top 20, or get huge numbers of viewings and comments, I feel the number of viewings now has fallen to a level where I would be foolish to continue. I appreciate the server is slow (isn't it always) but the popular type of images still manage to get viewers and I don't just mean the tacky low quality glamour that is posted and has always received the most viewings here. I have stopped posting in the forum because of the changes to format which were a retrograde step IMHO along with the changes to the IM system. The gallery too is to undergo such changes I believe and it is difficult to see how these could be for the better. Thank you once again to all those who have touched me with their artwork and/or been kind enough to view/comment upon mine. I wish everyone here and the site success in future endeavours. Richard.

Richard it is sad that you are leaving, it seems that alot of artists that I enjoy looking at their images and think I am learning from are leaving and that makes me sad. Anyway my friend another sepurb image that makes me feel happy and warm on this winters day here in New Zealand. Excellent composition......Anyway THANKYOU again for all the images you have posted and I hope you will come back one day........

Richard, please don't go!! I think you've only posted one landscape with the 30D and it was hugely impressive. Take a sabattical, by all means, go shoot some more 'scapes, recharge the batteries, but please return! Beautiful image, by the way, with a perfect soft background. Don't make it your last?

Really beaut! Orchids are so amazing. Sorry to here you go but one much follow their heart as to not let it affect their brain... unfortunetly the bigger companies have the attitude that we are changing and if you don't like it get lost - hell mine is like that... Who am I to argue they have a US$91 billion turnover... Hope you find peace some where Rich! You've always been helpful to me.

I'm having troubles w/ the forum these days too, I'd really hate to see you go, your work is brilliant and we really need you here, you'll be missed. I'm going to see what happens next week, if it's anything like the forum, we might all leave... At any rate, I've really enjoyed your work and I wish you well... Akemi ;-)
