Description

Actually, this is an accident, or more properly, an artifact. I attempted to "smooth" an .OBJ export of a Poser 5 hand in Wings3D. Oops. Well, I kinda liked the unintended and unplanned for effect, and this is what I ended up with. As "art," this means little enough - but does it *have* to? ;-) Lighting, free DL of FJ BH Halle HDRI. I warmed the color of the HDRI light source file a bit in Photoshop CS2.

Don't you just love those cool accidents?! I swear some of the best stuff I have seen and/or created was an accident. Nice work on that lighting! I like the mats too. :)

The mistake you stumbled upon is wonderful. But aside from that, this image is fantastic. THe smooth, glossy textures, the composition and the rendering technique make this really stunning. VOTE

Love the smoothing - even if it was an accident. The hand by itself holding the rock(?) really invokes a sense of wonder - wondering what else is going on in the rest of the scene? Great image!

My thanks to all of you. Somehow, I have never gotten around to placing any of my work here, having been mostly a freeloader. I'll place a few more. ;-)

Happy Accidents rule. I often find my best work has some sort of happy accident in it. I really like the hand, it has a nice robotic feel to it.
